HELLO PEEPS, HERE IS ANOTHER LITTLE TREASURE FROM THE BACK OF MY BOOKCASE:
Published 68years ago!
Chapter one: 'Spiritualism is not a religion, it is a discovery of an actual fact in nature. Like other facts in nature it always existed and operated, even before it was discovered.
...Many people were aware of the existence of Spiritualism even before it was generally discovered, but they could not explain it scientifically. Now, however, with our deeper knowledge of the constitution of matter and our increasing knowledge of wavelengths and vibrations, we can, in the main, do so. We can show that the claims of Spiritualists are more and more confirmed by every advance in our knowledge concerning the nature of matter.
What are the claims of Spiritualists? They claim that death is not the end of the spirit or mind or individuality that inhabits this earthly body, it lives on inhabiting another body, an etheric body, which is the counterpart of the earthly body but existing at a much faster rate of vibration than the earthly body. That because of this great difference in wavelength or vibration the two bodies are normally unaware of each other, but that, nevertheless, given suitable conditions,it is possible for the gap to be bridged and for us in this life to communicate with those in the next.......
The Author then goes on to explain the science behind the claims of Spiritualism, in some detail. He also emphasises again that 'Spiritualism is NOT a religion....it is a science.'
He adds that Spiritualism confirms the possibility of the so-called miracles of the Bible and makes them scientifically credible.
He points out in chapter two, that this book is not a scientific treatise , but is written in a popular manner for the 'man in the street.'
He lists some of the most honoured and respected scientists who have wrote about their discoveries concerning psychic science, and to whom the world owes a tremendous debt:
Sir William Crookes
Alfred Russell Wallace
Sir William Barrett,
Lombroso,
Flammarion,
Lord Rayleigh,
Sir Archibold Geikie,
Sir J.J.Thompson,
Dr.Richet,
Dr Geley,
Professor William James,
Professor W.J.Crawford,
Dr. Hyslop,
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle,
Sir Oliver Lodge.
This is an interesting book, full of detail, which argues a very convincing case for survival.
